Perfection. There is no other word to better describe the 1984-85 O-Pee-Chee Hockey set. Hands down, it is the best hockey card set from the 1980s. It might even be the best hockey set made during the "O-Pee-Chee Era" (1968-1993). The '84-85 O-Pee-Chee set achieves perfection because of its fantastic design, excellent photography and comprehensive player selection - not to mention that it includes the rookie cards of five future Hall of Fame players.(Full Story)

The John Garrett card ranks as one of my all-time favorites.
I agree....a great set.
my favourite set also but for different reasons--I had started collecting again in the 80's and bought packs and singles--had a chance to buy during the season for $36.00---for a case, which I believe had 16 boxes--still wish I had some left--traded away and sold most--I do have autographed copies of the top five RC's
Nice write-up Sal. Believe it or not I JUST purchased this set about 2 weeks ago in really good shape. I have about 6 or 7 commons that need replacement but other than that it's pretty much mint, including very nice copies of the major rookies. I enjoyed reading this post.
I loved this set. I probably busted 10 boxes of it or more that season and even won the promotion (got me the set in three uncut sheets). It made '85-86 all the more disappointing.
I did hear that OPC printed so much of it due to the promotion that they had a ton left over. This led to the scaling back of '85-86.
Great set, I have both OPC and topps and both mint. Topps version seriously underrated and can be found on the 'bay for less than 30 bucks! Never understood why Pelle Lindbergh was left out of both sets.
